Gretchen Bitterlin
Gretchen Bitterlin has 45 years experience in the field of adult level English as a Second Language education, teaching Citizenship, ESL, and family literacy through the San Diego Community College District since 1971. From 1996 to 2014, she was the coordinator of the non-credit Continuing Education ESL program. She chaired the TESOL task force that produced the Standards for Adult Education ESL Programs in 2003. She is also a co-author of Ventures, an adult ESL series published by Cambridge University Press in 2007. She has also been very active in CATESOL having been the Statewide Adult Level Chair from 1988-1989, President of CATESOL from 1995-1996, and Regional Conference Liaison from 1996 -2014.
