Fun Extensive Reading Circle Activities at Appropriate Levels

Inspire your students to acquire essential academic skills by using fun extensive reading circle activities! In addition, find out innovative and easy ways to find the reading level of books or other texts for your students! Also, get a list of popular reading books for multicultural students at different reading levels.
Listening and Speaking:
Teaching Listening and Speaking Through Meaningful Interview Projects
Pat Bennett, Grossmont College
Using an example of interviewing Americans on cultural topics, the presenter will provide details for how to organize this project including locating and matching interviewees, monitoring topic selection and language production, and grading. Finally, a variety of interview projects appropriate to different levels of students will be offered, and participants will be encouraged to discuss how interviewing could be adapted for use in their classes.
Writing:
Jing Therapy – Save Time Using Jing to Edit, Give Feedback, and Grade Essays

Editing, giving feedback, and grading essays is time-consuming for writing teachers. To accomplishing the same tasks while saving time, the presenter will show 3 ways of using Jing –an easy and free program to helps them focus on key mechanics and save time when grading essays.

Improvise and Energize – Fun Activities to Activate Your Classroom presented by Rheba Smith, San Diego Continuing Education
Seasoned ESL teacher with years of experience will share and inspire you with a repertoire of activities that are successful! Explore how to appeal to all learning styles with poems, board games, music, and dance. These activities encourage interaction, build community, and are easily adapted to all levels. Handouts will be provided.
