Students from different areas of ESL
This session examines student motivation from the point of view of the student and addresses questions such as: When learning English, what kind of obstacles do you face? How do you deal with obstacles? Was there a time in the past when you were ready to give up? Who or what kept you going/motivated?

Deconstructing Motivation in Language Learning: Mindful Paths To Enhance Students' Engagement in Language Classrooms
Dr. Noriyuki Inoue, University of San Diego
This session examines student motivation from the perspective of contemporary theories and research on language learning. Professor Noriyuki Inoue, who holds a M.Ed. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University, is an expert in educational psychology and educational research methods. In this presentation, he discusses key theories and offers ample examples of classroom situations from which the audience can derive useful insights into how to enhance students' engagement in language classrooms.
